Marilyn Monroe had a boob job as well as a sponge chin implant, according to a US cosmetic surgery expert.
The film star had probably been given liquid silicone injections in her breasts and they were infected before her death from an overdose, according to Joan Kron, editor at large of US beauty bible Allure.
There was a scramble at auction last week to buy X-rays of Marilyn’s skull.
Secret surgery: A friend of Marilyn Monroe said that before her death 'her breasts were infected', probably from liquid silicone injections
The haunting images from 1962 were captured one week after her 36th birthday and two months before her death – and appear to show she had a procedure on her chin.
Alongside the scans were medical notes by her plastic surgeon, Michael Gurdin.

ShareThe possible breast op is revealed in Ms Kron’s blog for Allure.com.
She writes: ‘Her X-rays have been under lock and key in the office of Norman Leaf, a Los Angeles plastic surgeon who inherited them upon the retirement of Gurdin, his medical partner.
Leaf treated Monroe’s chart like a sacred relic, showing it to a select few. I was lucky to be in that group.’
Before: Marilyn pictured in 1949, before she had the alleged implants and breast injections
Marilyn had her first chin operation – carried out by John Pangman, a surgeon who often operated in Gurdin’s office – in 1950 after overhearing herself being called ‘a chinless wonder’.
‘The implant was sponge, not cartilage,’ says Ms Kron.
She says of the breast enhancements: ‘I learned of those in 1995 when I interviewed Rosemary Eckersley, a friend of Monroe and the widow of Franklin Ashley, another legendary Hollywood surgeon.
'She told me before Monroe’s death “her breasts were infected”, probably from liquid silicone injections.’
Harry Styles' ice cream diet
Wehey for Wheyhey: Harry Styles is a fan of protein shakes
Is One Direction heart-throb Harry Styles worried about losing his place as ‘the one everyone fancies’ in the band?
For some reason, according to our sources, he has completely overhauled his diet and exercise regime in recent months.
Harry, right, who has been romantically linked to TV presenter Caroline Flack and pop star Taylor Swift, has been working out in the gym and on the tennis courts at least five times a week.
He’s also been incorporating more protein into his diet – including back-stage requests for a freezer filled with Wheyhey ice cream.
A special protein-enriched ice cream with only 150 calories a pot, it is sold in gyms as an alternative to a post-workout protein shake.
David Gandy, the Dolce & Gabbana model, likes Wheyhey so much he’s bought shares in the company. Tasty!
First beautician guilty of illegal teeth whitening
A beautician has become the first to be convicted of carrying out unlawful teeth-whitening.
The General Dental Council brought the landmark case after a change in EU legislation banned anyone but dentists from offering the potentially dangerous procedure, which uses hydrogen peroxide.
The change in regulations is aimed at preventing people suffering mouth burns at the hands of inexperienced practitioners.
Elaine Taylor-Valles pleaded guilty at Preston Magistrates’ Court to unlawfully practising dentistry and was given a nine-month conditional discharge.
The GDC took action against her after investigating a complaint from a member of the public about the way teeth-whitening was carried out at her salon, Diamonds, in Southport, Merseyside.
Taylor-Valles claimed in a letter to be a ‘fully qualified beautician’ – but the title is not recognised by the dental body. Diamonds has now closed.
