Arsenal 'could go back in for Mykhailo Mudryk' a year after Chelsea flop chose Blues

Arsenal could reportedly be set to make a sensational move to reignite their interest in Mykhailo Mudryk a year after he joined Chelsea.

The Ukrainian winger has fallen significantly short of the £89million price tag that Chelsea paid Shakhtar Donetsk in January of last year for his services and his future is already in the air. After making a promising debut against Liverpool, he has scored just four goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.

Mudryk cut a disconsolate figure after Chelsea were beaten by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. The 23-year-old was introduced at the beginning of extra-time but was unable to make an impact as Mauricio Pochettino’s side found themselves second best in the extra period.

Given his poor performances and being left on the fringes of the side under the Argentine, a potential exit has been reported by Fichajes. They claim that Juventus and his former target club Arsenal have shown interest in the winger who could leave for more regular minutes.

Mikel Arteta’s side were heavily interested in signing Mudryk before he moved to Stamford Bridge just over 12 months ago. Arsenal looked to be clear in the race for his signature, with Mudryk even posting a picture of him wearing an Arsenal shirt as he looked to force through a move.

However, Chelsea stormed through in true Todd Boehly fashion to land the winger, tying him down to an eight-and-a-half-year contract in West London. The length of his deal at Chelsea has made a possible loan exit more likely, but a sensational permanent switch to the Emirates hasn’t been ruled out.

Mudryk has featured in just two of the Blues’ previous six Premier League games – coming on as a substitute in the second half of defeats against Liverpool and Wolves. He failed to score in 17 games for Chelsea at the end of last season and has just four goals to his name so far this campaign.
